Ingredients

  • 140 g flour
  • 50 g finely grated Parmesan cheese or another hard cheese, e.g. Džiugas
  • ½ arb.sh. baking powder
  • ½ arb.sh. salt
  • a little freshly ground pepper
  • 1 arb.sh. dried oregano or a handful of fresh can be replaced by other herbs such as rosemary
  • 60 g cold grated butter
  • 4 spoons cold water
  • coarse salt for sprinkling on top

Instructions

  • Turn on the oven to 200℃
  • Mix flour, salt, pepper, cheese, oregano and baking powder.
  • Add the grated butter to the mixture and combine with the flour, add cold water and knead until combined. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 3 mm. To make it easier to roll, place the dough between two sheets of baking paper.
  • Cut the rolled out dough into small squares. You can use a wavy cookie/ravioli cutter or, if you want to decorate your table for the holidays, you can use cookie cutters.

  • Sprinkle the top with coarse salt. To make the dough less puffy, you can use a fork to prick the rolled dough. The crackers will be very realistic, with holes.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes.

If you replace the butter with vegetable fat, you have a vegan option.
You can use all sorts of herbs to give you different flavours of crackers.
